Also an early painterly experiment using "curvalinear perspective". Bassets abstract painting phase was still active but was gradually giving way to a return to figuration. A "chunkier" approach to layering his brushstrokes was becoming evident. The sketch for this painting was done while Basset was still at Hamersmith College of Art and Building, but the actual painting might have been done when Basset entered the Royal Academy of Arts, London.
